I work in oils with a fairly abstract figurative style using photos, models and my own subconscious to get the images I want. My paintings are focused on the faiths and fears that we all share as humans and the many elements in our world that represent and illustrate these feelings. I’m interested in the absurdity and beauty involved.

I recently began to paint the cows and water buffalo of India after a visit there because they encapsulated the idea of a holiness, a faith or a power that humans have placed onto certain forms. I found that through photographing and painting them they took on a power of their own for me too, a certain beauty and slightly surreal magic. It is this that I am working on painting. I want to show the 'magic' that surrounds these creatures, I want to show history in their eyes, vulnerability in their sometimes full sometimes skeletal bodies, and power in the force that we have infused them with.
